Sound intensity sensor

Sound intensity sensor „Hottinger Brüel & Kjær”

The „Hottinger Brüel & Kjær” sound intensity probe is an advanced instrumentation for the determination of sound power in an anechoic chamber.

Features of the device:

  • can precisely measure the sound from one selected direction, ignoring noise coming from other directions,
  • enables precise identification of the loudest elements or areas of a machine in terms of both loudness and sound frequency,
  • operates in close proximity to the machine,
  • allows for the visualisation of the noise map of the machine, using a multi-channel system software,
  • can dynamically assess the quality of the acoustic spectrum and its nuisance to the environment.

The sensor allows sound wave frequencies to be measured, divided either into octaves and into thirds, over the entire fan performance range at variable speeds. In the testing process, the system makes it possible to precisely compare acoustic spectra and indicate the most onerous sounds for the environment.

The system consists of:

  • a sensor with a license,
  • software,
  • supporting instrumentation.
